Two similar conductors carrying same amount of . . .

Question : Two similar conductors carrying same amount of current are placed as shown in figure given below. The plane of one conductor is along x-axis and other is along y-axis. What is the ratio of the resultant magnetic field at a common point to the individual magnetic field?

a) 3:2
b) 2:3
c) 1:√2
d) √2:1

Solution :

B1=B2=B (Let)

Total Magnetic field at the common point will be given by
BNET=√(B12+B22)
BNET=√(B2+B2)
BNET=√[2B2]
BNET=B√2

BNET/B = B√2/B
BNET/B = √2/1

BNET : B = √2 : 1

So d) is the correct option.
