A pair of concentric coils having radius 1 cm and 2 cm . . .

Question : A pair of concentric coils having radius 1 cm and 2 cm has a mutual inductance of 1.5 H. If the current in outer coil changes from 0 to 20 A in 0.5 second, what is (a) the change in flux linkage with the inner coil & b) self-inductance of outer coil?

Solution :
r1 = 1 cm = 10-2 m
r2 = 2 cm = 2×10-2 m

M = 1.5 H

In outer coil
dI=20-0 = 20 A
dt = 0.5 s

a) We know,
ϕ=MI
differentiating both sides
dϕ=MdI
change in flux (dϕ)
= MdI
= 1.5×20
= 30 Wb

b) We know

ϕ=LI
